FAQ

Welcome to A.S.H.E.

Home education is a growing movement in Ashe County and across North Carolina. During the 2020-2021 academic year there were 474 registered home schools in Ashe County and over 112,614 across the state according to the North Carolina Department of Non-public education! This growth can be attributed to the desires of parents to provide the best educational opportunities for their children, develop good moral and responsible citizens, and preserve and strengthen the traditional family structure. Many new homeschools have started in the last two years following the Covid pandemic and provided more confidence that parents have more options than they once thought possible.

Ashe Schools of Home Education (ASHE) promotes the common interests of homeschoolers in Ashe County and the surrounding areas. We are a group governed by Christian principles but are open to all families who homeschool.

ASHE will offer Tuesday classes this fall at Friendship Baptist Church in Jefferson NC. Classes will include a variety of classes from early Elementary through High School. These classes are led by several parents and teachers in the community. Classes meet from September through November (Fall Semester) and February-April (Spring Semester).

ASHE also organizes field trips, and family educational nights, and homeschooling support.
